Please join us for the inaugural Happy Hour of 2012 as we visit a new restaurant on the Lansing scene: Bagger Dave's. This establishment is a franchise of a Michigan-based restaurant company. Their menu consists of Belgium style French fries, build-your-own burger options and only Michigan-made beers on tap.

Casual CASDL Debate Judging

A middle school speech and debate tournament hosted by the Capital Area Speech and Debate League (CASDL) will occur on January 28, 2012 at Pattengill Middle School. Lansing Jaycees are invited to judge at the event, even with no prior experience. A brief crash course on how to judge will be offered at the start of the event. Also, you get a free lunch. Judging speech and debate gives you the opportunity to understand how to more effectively communicate. Please be advised that for the safety of all involved, a free background check is required. I will contact those that RSVP yes to e-mail them the form for the background check.

Our General Membership meetings occur the first Tuesday of each month (except July) at Trippers in Frandor starting at 7 PM with a social hour starting at 6 PM. The meeting is open to all members and anyone interested in learning about the Lansing Jaycees. I hope to see you there!

Taking trainings to the next level Lauren Leeds, 84th President of the Lansing Jaycees One of the great things the Jaycees offers our members are trainings on a multitude of different subjects. That's why I'm excited to tell you about a fantastic, new opportunity for our members. In partnership with the Michigan Jaycees, the national award-winning consultants at WorldLink Communications, LLC have designed rigorous certification courses in three areas: Communication Competency, Leadership Development, and Conflict Resolution. According to WorldLink's website, the certification courses are modeled off of its Corporate Training Program, with each course containing two levels of certification: Green Belt and Black Belt. Participants who successfully complete the professional development training courses will be presented with an official certificate indicating their accomplishment. Intrigued? Want to know more?
